Caroline Killhour
Painter, Printer, Designer
Oil, acrylic, and gouache paintings and woodut prints
Caroline's artwork demonstrates spatial depth juxtaposed with decorative, colorful surfaces and patterns. She employs diagonals and jolting shifts of perspective in order to establish spatial angles of vision similar to those used in Japanese prints. This work reflects her 25 years of textile, apparel and footwear design.
Caroline will have paintings and prints available. Caroline's work exhibits a decorative flatness that attracts the viewer's eye to the surface of the work. These opposing elements combine to invite the viewer to linger on the surface, focusing on the two-dimensional and ornamental qualities of her creation before observing the other three-dimensional aspects.

Oil, Watercolor, Acrylic with Mixed Media and Gold Leaf
I work with oils, watercolors and Acrylic with Mixed Media and Gold Leaf mostly on location. Besides landscapes, I have created a signature gold-leaf pineapple painting that is creating a universal connection of aloha, welcome, love and hospitality. I paint with an expressionistic and impressionistic reaction to what I see and feel when looking at the subject. Both a plein air artist and a studio artist, I create paintings of changing history and everyday life to create a captured moment.

Mainly 2D: several styles including, abstract, surreal, impressionistic, whimsical
Oil, acrylic and mixed media
A response to living from one grain of sand in the Universe. Life is beautiful, painful, bewildering and funny. Humans are complicated and moody. You will find that my art seemingly has several styles, as if different artists have created it. This is the result of reaching inside one human and expressing each inspiration or life response as the stars indicate at that moment.
When I hit it, it strikes a chord that communicates with the viewer. This might be a mystical experience, a fleeting moment of piercing beauty or even a joke.
This is a down-and-dirty working artist\'s studio. We will tidy up a bit and have some pupus, music and hula-hooping, but the main thing you will bw seeing is art and projects everywhere: on the easels, on the racks, on the tables and the floor, spilling out into the rest of the property, including the bathroom. Since I share my studio, you will also see my husband\'s art, as well as pieces that we\'ve collected from other artists.

Glass and Metal
Hand-forged Copper Vessels & Kiln-formed Glass Art

Trained as a metalsmith but addicted to glass, my artwork covers a broad spectrum. From fused glass wall panels to copper ceremonial vessels, cast glass sculpture to functional decor, lighting fixtures to collectable cast glass eggs, each piece is individually hand-crafted and truly one-of-a-kind.
3 ARTISTS - 3 MEDIUMS - 1 FABULOUS LOCATION
Situated on the slopes of Haleakala, up in Kula, we have transformed our custom-designed home with sweeping bi-coastal views into a gallery for Maui Open Studios. I have invited two artists, who's work I truly admire, to exhibit with me in presenting a myriad of art in a spectacular location. Kathleen MacDonald will be displaying her plein air paintings and Kevin Omuro will be exhibiting his pit-fired naked-raku ceramics. Preview the art, enjoy some refreshments, chat with the artists and observe them at work. Glass, painting and ceramic demonstrations throughout both days.
