Sean Singharaja Baba
Contemporary Landscape, Mixed Media, Muralist

Contemporary landscapes and visionary Hawaiiana in oil and mixed mediums. Timeless portraits of Maui preserving the history and culture of Hawaii. Recent works have expanded into global issues that surround and affects us all.

Having a background in figurative art, I have evolved into landscape portraits that are both contemporary and timeless. To capture the Island in a way that preserves the past and tells the history to present the culture of Hawaii to the viewer. Sometimes the past has been buried however in a visionary depiction it can be re-illustrated to tell the story.

Sabado Studios
Oil Paintings, Watercolor, Murals, Hawaiian Carpets

On the island of Molokai there is a reverence for the old ways. My vision is to perpetuate the Hawaiian history and culture through my art. I have been recording this world since I was a boy drawing pictures of plantation life on Molokai. My studies took me to Honolulu, Los Angeles, as well as Paris.
Sabado's formal art education began at the Honolulu Academy of Art and later ex¬tended to Art Center College of Design as well as the Otis Parsons Institute of Design, both in Los Angeles. At this time he was a member of the prestigious Los Angeles Society of illustrators. While living in California he was chosen as one of the top fifty illustrators in the United States, and selected to study at Columbia University in Paris, France.

The year 2000 proved an exciting time for Sabado. The state foundation on culture and the arts and the department of education for the state of Hawaii chose Sabado to create a mural that encompassed the nine hundred year history of Molokai.
