The Annual Maui Open Studios Event is the first island-wide event of its kind in Hawaii. It spans over 4 weekends in February every year and consists of an Opening Celebration and Preview Exhibition, followed by 3 weekends of self-guided tours of artist studios and exhibition spaces. MOS is a unique, vibrant event modeled after a very successful concept and tradition that has been enjoyed by the public throughout California and other art-appreciating states across the country for many decades. In 2010, after recognizing that Hawaii had no such event like this to promote and support its abundance of talented artists, we began putting plans in place to produce a similar event on the beautiful island of Maui, where so many gifted and talented artists reside, visit, create and find inspirations for their art. Artists are encouraged to do live demonstrations, serve refreshments, talk story about their art, sell their work, connect with their visitors and create unique exhibition spaces for the public to enjoy. The public, both local and tourist alike, have a very unique opportunity year after year to experience the creativity that the art community on Maui has to offer. It is a unique and special event for both the artists and art-collectors alike. This entire event is free for the public. All are welcome.
Meet many of the artists, preview a few pieces
of their work, and pick up copies of the MOS Guidebook while enjoying
live music, no-host pupus and a cash bar. The Opening Celebration is followed by... Grab a copy of our MOS Guidebook at our Opening Celebration/Preview Exhibition, or at one of our MOS Guidebook Pickup Locations or use our convenient online artist directory to map out your tours and away you go! Preview the artist's work prior to your self-guided tour either at our Opening Celebration/Preview Exhibition, through our website, or the artist's own website. Decide which studios you'd like to visit and then print a Mapquest/Google map (to be added closer to the event) from the links in the artist directory on this website or for general directions see our maps in MOS Guidebook. If you have GPS, even better! Whichever way you decide to plan your tours, we highly encourage you to have your own Maui road map with you in your cars. And watch for those Maui Open Studio signs along the roadways leading you to artist locations.
Thanks for being here and we hope to see you on Maui in February, 2014!
